Walter was born July 3, 1932 on the farm in Brooksby, SK to Peter and Lena Kiverago. Walter was one of five boys: Albert, Walter, Michael, William and Henry. He attended the Irvington School in the RM of Willow Creek. In his youth, he enjoyed playing ball with the Brooksby Rockets.
Walter married Catherine “Jean” Dickie on November 19, 1960 and shortly thereafter set up farming just south of Melfort. They had two children – Beverly (1965) and John (1968). They enjoyed their trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Arizona and many casino destinations. They spent time in New Zeeland during Bev’s rotary placement and many trips around Canada with John’s ball.
Walter farmed for over 60 years. He also was an active Melfort businessman including Dee’s Gas Town, Triple R Sports and in partnership with Heritage Inn and Cree River Lodge.
Walter will be missed by his family – John (Susan), grandchildren Shaye and Hunter. He is predeceased by Jean and Beverly.
