Mary Florence Haskins, born Dec 5, 1927 at Quill Lake, Sk to Edgar & Ivy (Hunt) Haskins. Mary was the second oldest of 4 children. Mary had one brother Wm (Bill) and 2 sisters - Eva and Gladys. She grew up on a farm west of Rose Valley. Mary loved children, nature, pets, the outdoors, and travelling.
She attended Newdale school. After finishing her schooling she completed her Practical Nurse certification. In 1956 she moved with her sister Gladys to Vancouver where they both worked at Vancouver General Hospital till she retired. Their retirement dream was to travel the world and they did just that. They travelled back every year to Rose Valley to visit family in addition to their worldly travels.
Mary moved to Naicam, Sk. in 2018 to be close to family and then to Parkland Place in Melfort, Sk in 2019.
Mary's usual reply when asked how she was, was "I'm fine". She was always optimistic and enjoyed each day as it came.
Mary passed away November 2, 2025.
Mary was predeceased by her father and mother, brother Bill, sisters Eva and Gladys, and sister-in-law Mary. Mary left to mourn her nephew Ed (Debbie) Haskins, niece Vivian (John) McWillie and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Mary will be greatly missed by family and friends.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Parkland Place staff and residents for their care and kindness.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be made to Parkland Place Residents Council.
There will be a private family graveside service and interment at a later date.
