Obituary of Marjorie Ellen Rush

Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marjorie Ellen Padbury was born and raised on a farm in Aylesbury, Sk on July 6, 1931 the 5th child to Reg and Alice Padbury.
She moved to Melfort to take on a teaching position at Clapton School which was a one room school south of Fairy Glen and while there she took up room and board at the Lenvale General Store with Lyle & Norma Cox. Marjorie was a long standing member of the Lenvale Ladies Club in to her 90’s where she developed many life long friends.

On Jan 5, 1952 she married a tall handsome man, Ronald Rush and they resided on their farm till they moved in to Melfort in 1962. Together they had 4 children. Richard, Jerry (Debi), Joan Klein (Phil), Rhonda Fairburn (Rob). She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Mitchel (Pearl), Chelsea (Nestor), Lyndon (Krysta), Nathan (Jenny), Ben (Stephanie), Charity (Chris), Jay, Leslie (Austin), Richelle (Trevor), Rhett (Michelle), Audrey (Dana), Graham (Erica). Marjorie also cherished her 36 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, always enjoying when they visited.

She taught for many years at Brunswick & Broadway schools in Melfort and later was a play school teacher at the United Church. Together Ron and Marj owned the Melfort News Agency and they later managed the Cara Valla Inn. She expanded on her diverse resumé, working as a Care Aid at Nirvana and Pioneer Lodge. In her spare time, Mom volunteered at school activities or wherever she was needed.

Marj was a devoted Christian & member of the Presbyterian Church and took great comfort from knowing she would eventually reside in heaven with those who went before her. She was predeceased by husband Ron, her son Richard, grandson Jay Busby and great grandchildren Angel Rush and Cherish Harvey.

Mom will forever be remembered by her soft heart, warm smile and a crazy dry sense of humour, she could really crack you up with her witty one liners!

The Family wishes to thank Dr Strydom & the incredible staff at Parkland Place in Melfort for their loving care of our Mom. The staff were always kind and gracious, treating her more like a member of their own family than a resident, we will be eternally grateful!
Jerry, Joan, Rhonda
