Please share a memory of Marie-Ange to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Today, we gather to celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman, Marie-Ange (Marie) Gregoire. As we reflect on her journey, we honor not only her memory but also the profound impact she had on all of us.
Marie is predeceased by daughters Diane Nesbitt and Joan Oracheski, and survived by her husband Ron Gregoire and children Les and Made Nesbitt, Jim and Dayle Allan, Ron and Kathy Allan, Bill and Mugs Sullivan, Moe and Ken Weisgarber, Jay Mafukidze, Janet and Roger Creurer, Jim Oracheski, Cathy and Ken Chapman, Rod and Connie Allan, Keith and Sheila Gregoire, Lana Gregoire and Mario Laplante, and Juanita and Jeff Seeley as well as 155 (not a typo!) grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Marie was born on December 2, 1930, in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, the youngest daughter of Emile and Emelda Casavant. Though her siblings often teased her, suggesting she was spoiled, those of us who knew her understand that Marie possessed a strength and resilience that would shape her into the remarkable person she became.
Her early years were characterized by hard work and determination. Marie attended Arpsville School, where her athletic talents shone brightly, and she progressed to a convent in Zenon Park for most of her high school education, eventually finishing Grade 12 in St. Brieux. At 18, she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse, but life had other plans. Instead of a nursing career, Marie returned home to teach school, where she began to share her knowledge and passion with others.
In 1950, Marie married Hugh Allan, and had 9 children, 3 boys and 6 girls. After their divorce in 1966, Marie, ever resilient, moved back to Saskatchewan to be closer to her family and embarked on the challenging path of being a single mother to those nine children, all between the tender ages of 1 and 13.
During this busy time, Marie showcased her entrepreneurial spirit, taking on various sales roles to support her family. From Stanley and Amway to Tupperware and insurance, she tried her hand at it all, proving that she would do whatever was necessary for her children. Once they were in school, Marie pursued her accounting certificate in Melfort and later secured a job with Heinz Construction in St. Brieux. In 1978, she found love again when she married Ron Gregoire, and together they blended their families into a vibrant baker’s dozen!
Marie’s heart for service was boundless. Beyond her professional endeavors, she poured her energy into coaching sports teams, judging figure skating, and participating in fundraisers for Donors Choice and Pro-Life. Her involvement with her church and her proud membership in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion were testimonies to her commitment to giving back to the community. Even in her later years, when physical limitations set in, Marie’s spirit remained unyielded. Just last week, she awoke and asked how she could help those around her, a testament to her boundless servant heart.
Her smile and sunny disposition were infectious. Wherever she went, Marie carried a light that brightened the lives of everyone she encountered.
Yet, her greatest source of strength was her unwavering faith. Marie’s life was a testament to her relationship with the Lord, and her faith guided her in every aspect of her life. The joy she derived from sharing her beliefs with Ron and their family was palpable, touching the hearts of many and inspiring all who were fortunate to know her.
Today, we say goodbye to a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother and friend—a woman who taught us the meaning of love, service, and faith. Let us carry forth her legacy by embodying the virtues she held dear, cherishing the memories we’ve shared, and keeping her spirit alive in our hearts.
Marie, your light will shine on through all of us, and your unyielding love will continue to guide us. Thank you for being a beacon of positivity and grace in this world.
