Obituary
Malcolm Noble Olson was born on February 25th, 1928 in Lorburn, Saskatchewan. He was the third of twelve children born to Alvin and Florella Olson. At the age of 3 the family settled in Tiger Hills, where he attended a one room school. He completed one year of Bible School at LCBI in Outlook, SK. As a young man Mac had various occupations including being a hired hand on the Henry Hanson and Ken Arnestad farms. He worked on the University of Saskatoon campus and was a meat shop assistant. On October 23rd, 1954 he was united in marriage to Ella Rolles. They made their home in Melfort, SK. They were blessed with three children ~ Marvin, Elaine and Connie, along with 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandsons. He truly loved his family and every grandchild thought they were his favorite. He had a genuine love for his parents, brothers, sisters and extended family. While in Melfort Mac started working at the Co-op creamery, first delivering milk by horse and buggy, then moved on to bulk milk truck driver. For several years he owned & operated Olson’s Delivery. He later had a bulk fuel delivery route for Co-op. In his retirement years he drove many vehicles and miles for Cheyenne Chevrolet. He always had a smile on his face and a genuine interest in anyone he met. Mac had an uncanny ability to recall names and events from the past. He had a true servants heart, whether it was giving rides to people, helping friends and family members in anyway he could. He enjoyed gardening, riding his bicycle, spending time with his family, doing crossword puzzles and was the Toronto Maple Leafs biggest fan! A long-standing member of the Melfort Evangelical Covenant Church, he served as church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, greeter and trustee. Mac loved the Lord his God, had a quiet faith and shared by example with all. Mac and Ella were married for 59 years. His love and devotion to Ella was evident, especially during her last years. He was widowed in June 2014. In 2017 he moved to Luther Towers in Saskatoon to be closer to Marvin’s family. Mac passed away peacefully with his children at his side on October 1, 2019 at Royal University Hospital. He is lovingly remembered by son Marvin (Gwynne) Olson, daughters Elaine (David) Johnson and Connie (Mike) Erickson; grandchildren Josh (Robynn) Olson, Beate Olson (Jeff Upton), Lisa (Matthew) Skretting, Sjoen Olson, Kjersti Olson, Mikkel Olson, Hanne Johnson, Karl (Jillian) Johnson, and Christopher Erickson; three sisters, Vivian Pushie, Ida Gwen (Bob) Bergh, and Sharon (Jim) Archibald, five brothers, Jarle (Judy), Ron (Delaine), Ken (Donna), Lloyd (Betty Lou), and Larry (Irene); brother-in-laws Roy Olson, George Shipley, Allen (Brenda) Rolles and sister-in-laws Kay Olson, Merle Campbell and many extended family members.
