Harvey Christopher Dahl was the son of Clifford and Olive Dahl. He was born in Beatty, Saskatchewan on August 18, 1934. As a child Harvey helped on the farm with the hogs, chickens and milking cows. He delivered milk around town before and after school. The family moved to Beatty when Harvey was in grade five. At twelve he learned to drive a tractor and worked to help break up new land on the farm. At thirteen he joined the Melfort Swine Club and the Beatty Baby Beef Club. An accident with his horse caused a severe break to his leg and other injuries. Clifford refused to allow the doctors to take Harvey’s leg and his recovery was long; leaving him with a limp. As an adult Harvey had many jobs. Including Aircraft controller and weatherman for Marconi on the D. E. W. line. Auctioneer selling cattle, equipment, and estate holdings for Hodgins Auctions, Schniders, Tisdale Livestock and Kindersley Livestock. He owned four different restaurants and was a well-known chef. For almost every holiday Dad and Mom would cook big meals for everyone that could come including: Uncle Bob Horne, Aunty Dona and Uncle Orville. As a “retired” man Harvey enjoyed fishing as often as he could and was thankful for the times spent on the boat with his family and friends. Marilyn and Harvey had many “camp” friends who shared those wonderful summer days enjoying. Rey Taylor (son in law) recounts that many times on the boat at Smits beach resulted in Grandma out fishing all! Harvey enjoyed their property at Garrick as they worked in the garden, wood working shop and enjoyed the carpet bowling events at the hall. Harvey and Marilyn had a large family including: Ross Dahl, Wyatt Dahl, Walker Dahl Signey (Dahl) and Cornell Van Veen, Steel and Lindsay Van Veen, Taylor, Talon, Holly (Van Veen) and Terry Ward, Tristan, Austin, Justin, Grace Trudy (Dahl) and Rodney Richards, Ryley and Jen Richards, Elle, Bo, and Brant, Leah Richards, Lindsey (Richards) and Cody Nichol, Jax, Kane Whip Dahl, Clay and Kristen Dahl, Avery, Watson and Brynn, Zane Dahl and Kayla McCoy, Wyatt, Ryley X (Dahl) and Rey Taylor, Britney (Taylor) and Jeff Keller West, Riggs, Richelle (Taylor) and Paul Morin, Reyn, Oaklynn Z (Dahl) Johnstone, Cassie (Johnstone) and Dan Martens, Elenora, Maggie Johnstone, Burke Johnstone and Jordyn, Lexi Johnstone. Harvey is preceded by his parents Clifford and Olive (Scott), Florence (Dahl) Horne, Hazel (Dahl) Kachmorski, Elmer Dahl, Alma Dahl, Grace (Dahl) Henningson, Gwen Dahl, Leah Richards (granddaughter), Whip Dahl (Son).
