Obituary
Terence (Terry) Reid Smith was born April 10, 1942 to Benjamin and Helen Smith in Melfort, Sask., and was the second oldest of five siblings. His early education was at Willowdale School and he graduated high school from Melfort Comprehensive Collegiate Institute. After a year of university, he decided instead to enter the workforce.
Terry was working at the Co-op Creamery when he met the love of his life, Doris Nelson. They married on August 15, 1970 and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Shortly after marriage, Terry began a nearly 20-year truck driving career with McGavin’s. During this time, he was also the owner and operator of the Sandwich Shop restaurant in Melfort.
Later in his career he was employed as a real estate agent, and sales representative for the Melfort Journal.
As an avid reader and lifelong learner, Terry had a passion for everything from current events, politics, science, and history.
The couple were blessed with three children: Brenda, Dana, and Tara. Gatherings were frequent with extended family which grew over the years with 11 grandchildren.
Above all, family was paramount in Terry’s life. He will be sadly missed and forever loved by his wife, Doris; their children and grandchildren: Brenda (Paul) Mellon, Seyfen and Jacob; Dana Smith, Gage, Adan, Sam, Mali, Kaiti and Milly; and Tara Spencer, (Tyler), Ty, Will, Jett, Chayce and Kamryn; siblings: Beryl Smith, Darwin (Bud) Smith (Brenda); Janet (Ron) Lysak, and Verla Mananstyrski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his loving parents: Albert (Benjamin) and Mary (Helen) Smith, father-and mother-in-law: Harry and Beatrice Nelson, and sister and brother-in-law: Doreen and Ken Myhre.
