Obituary
Funeral Services were held on Saturday August 1, 2015 from the Taylorside Gospel Hall at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Morgan Taylor officiating. Interment followed at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Merla may be directed to Palliative Care Room at the Melfort Hospital.
Merla Annabelle Taylor (nee Seale) was born on September 13, 1939 in Melfort, Saskatchewan. She was raised on the family farm one mile south of town until high school graduation in 1957. She then attended business school in Prince Albert. In 1958, Merla began her career as a legal stenographer at the same law office in Melfort where her mother had worked for many years. Upon her return to Melfort, Merla met her love, Roland Taylor. On November 12, 1960 they were married here, at the Taylorside Gospel Hall.
In 1961 Roland and Merla built their first home in Melfort where they soon began a family. Their firstborn was Kevin, followed by Colleen and Carolyn, all arriving in less than four years. Merla then returned to work in 1969 at the same law office, and diligently continued her work until the day before she was admitted to the hospital. She was a conscientious and loyal employee.
Merla waited patiently for her grandchildren to arrive and was delighted when each of the nine was born. She adored her grandchildren. Merla found great joy in spending time with family and close friends, and loved entertaining, travelling, knitting, gardening, and baking. One could not have wished for a better wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend.
Merla is survived by Roland Taylor, her loving husband of nearly 55 years; children Kevin (Katherine) Taylor, Colleen (Todd) Naber, and Carolyn (Kelly) Edwards; grandchildren Chloe and Anais Taylor, Amanda (Darren Neely), Alana, and Ashlyn Naber, and Cody (Tamsyn), Tristan, Heidi, and Katelyn Edwards.
Merla is predeceased by her parents Roland and Olive Seale, brother Garry Seale, nephew Marlin Taylor, parents-in-law Gordon and Edith Taylor, and sister-in-law Joan Taylor.
