Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Annette Marie Hankins on July 22nd, 2020. Annette was born in Melfort on October 31, 1969. After graduating from the Melfort & Unit Comprehensive Collegiate in 1987, Annette married her first husband John Hankins and together they had four children. Some of Annette’s hobbies throughout her younger years were gymnastics, swimming, and bowling where she qualified for Nationals and ranked 4th in the country. Annette was an amazing wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend. She always put everyone before herself and was extremely supportive. She was always encouraging, proud, and incredibly selfless. Annette’s home was a place for everyone to gather in time of need, comfort, and celebration. Annette welcomed everyone with open arms and treated them as family. Most of all, she took pride in her four children. Mom always made sure that we had everything we needed and more. She showed us how to truly live our lives and to never take anything for granted. Annette was loved immensely by her husband Kent Patton. They had a relationship full of admiration, support, and laughter spanning 20 years. Kent and Annette were inseparable and always there for each other, no matter what. They took enjoyment out of raising their family together and were always at every swim meet, soccer, softball, and volleyball game. In recent years, Annette took up crocheting blankets for her family. She also discovered a love for travel and made sure to experience each destination to its fullest. In February 2020, 14 family members spent a week together in Mexico, fulfilling Annette’s dream of quality family time, feeding sea turtles, and creating lifelong memories for everyone to cherish forever. Annette was predeceased by her mother (Penny Kipling) and grandparents (Ann and Happy Kipling). Annette is survived by her sisters Teresa Gratton (Cal), Nicole Kipling, Duana Kipling (Jon), nieces and nephews, her children Stephanie (Dean), Cody (Casandra), Kyla, and Tyhanna, her two grandchildren Daigen and Isobel, her husband Kent and his two children Jordan and Austin. As per our mom’s wishes, a small memorial will be held in September 2020 in her family backyard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.
