Obituary
In Loving Memory Of Kathleen (Kay) Meier Our Mother passed away peacefully in her sleep March 19, 2021 at Parkland Place in Melfort Saskatchewan. She is survived by her 5 children, Carolyn, Marilyn, Jean, Don and Judy, her sister Muriel, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her Mother Alberta, Father Albert, Step mother Mabel, Husband Lloyd, Grandson Jeff, Sister Irene, Sister Betty, Grand son-in-law Scott Germino and Son-in-law Veryl Nouch (Marilyn). Mom was born November 16, 1924 in MacGregor Manitoba. Her family moved to Star City Sask. and began a life there, but tragedy struck soon after and her mother Alberta died leaving by then 3 little girls. Mom was 2. She spent her growing up years in Star City and went to Normal School (teacher’s college) in Saskatoon. She taught in Delise Sask. for a year or 2 and returned to Star City where she met and married our dad Lloyd Meier. They had 5 children, Carolyn, Marilyn, Jean, Don and Judy. Mom had a life that consisted of lots of changes. The farm years where she worked hard raising a family of 5 kids and all the work of being a farm wife and being part of the community of Star City. Then there was a move to Saskatoon and lived there during her older girls teenage years and moved back to the farm and started to travel to New Mexico for the winter and golf. They spent winters there until dads passing in July 1993. During that time they built a cabin at Christopher Lake which was the place she lived and loved her kids and grandkids came to visit and enjoy the lake, golf and lots of campfires. She had a beautiful garden both flower and vegetable. She golfed, was an avid reader and spent time with her neighbor’s most recently those on both sides of her house Rick and Jeannie and Cam and Barb. They enjoyed many a meal and happy hour together. Her golf game was phenomenal. She got 2 Holes in 1 at Tisdale and Katchur's at Prince Albert. She loved to sing and was a soloist at many weddings in Star City. Mom was a strong person who was able to adjust to the many changes in her lifetime especially the death of our dad. She was a widow for almost 27 years and made the best of it. After many years of living independently she decided at 90 that she would move into Diefenbaker Place and later Parkland Place where she spent the last 3 years of her life. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Kathleen may be directed to Canadian Wildlife Federation and / or Charity of Choice.
