Obituary
Adolph Richard Erickson was born November 23, 1938 at the family farm in Brockington to Rudolph and Alice Erickson. He was the only son in their family of four.
He attended Pine Bluff school where he learned English since they only spoke Swedish at home. School work came easy to him. He had fond memories of walking to and from school, recess and sports days, friendships made that lasted through his lifetime.
At the age of fifteen Adolph quit school and began his working career. Starting with working for farmers in the area, excavating, road construction, truck driving, bush work, carpentry, Lund CD foreman, Diamond Drilling and finally in 1989 began work with the Kinistino R.M. until he retired in the fall of 2004 due to health reasons.
Adolph met Gail Anderson in 1962 and they were married in 1965 at the Carrot River Valley Lutheran Church where Adolph was baptized. Together they raised four children.
They lived in numerous places and last moved to the family farm at Brockington in 1979 where they reside today. They maintained a hobby farm raising chickens, cows, pigs, goat and of course horses. From the time Adolph was a boy he had an incredible love for horses.
Adolph was blessed with many skills and talents. He sang and played guitar. He could fix, repair and rebuild anything from motors, appliances, heavy equipment, scrapes, splinters and even booboo’s. He learned to hunt, trap, fish, log and appreciate all the forest and nature had to offer. It brought him such joy to take a simple drive through the bush with a thermos of coffee and cookies.
In 1987 Adolph made a life changing decision to quit drinking. With the help of a very special friend and sponsor. October 17th is celebrated in honor of this great achievement.
Adolph was able to connect with relatives in Sweden and made a trip there in 2000 as family and friends were very important to him. He adored children and they looked up to him as much as his children did. To them "Dad" was a Super Hero.
Adolph battled many health issues the last 15 years and with the love and care from his family he was able to stay at home until his last few days, passing away in Melfort Hospital August 29, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Forever loved by his wife Gail, daughter Tracy (Kelly), Courtney (Riley), Kierra (Chris), Kayden; daughter Melanie (Garry), Danielle (Kyle), Whitney, Shane; son Shaun (Donna), Brenden, Renata (Ryan), James; daughter Myrna (Rick) Paije, Marli, Addyson, Bryn and great grandchildren Hayden, Gavin, Jaxsyn, Lachlan, Ivy and Isla.
