They also attended many family reunions and enjoyed being reunited with relatives. Many return trips were made to visit relatives for special occasions. Merv loved telling stories of these trips and their visits. He had a great memory for people and events of the past. In former years he liked watching all sports, especially hockey. He enjoyed playing table and card games, often till the wee hours of the morning. Merv spent 70 years of his life as a diabetic. He accepted his diabetes and understood what he needed to do to live with the disease, maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
