Ronald Frank Gural was born February 3, 1944 in Cudworth, Sk., and passed away suddenly in Melfort Union Hospital in the early morning hours of December 23, 2019. Ron grew up on the family farm in the Silver Park district, attended school at Silver Park and later on in Melfort. He worked for the Dept. of Highways as a surveyor before embarking on farming full time. On October 28, 1972 he married Dorothy Elaine Riddick and resided in Melfort where he helped Elaine in her cleaning business while continuing to farm at Silver Park. Although they had no children, they were godparents to Ron’s cousin’s first born son. Ron was an outdoorsman and appreciated nature’s vast bounty. He always made time for, and enjoyed, any kind of berry picking. He loved concocting recipes using those fruits, some successful, some, no so much. Gardening was also a hobby & potatoes were his specialty. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He loved his sports, played fastball and curled – and enjoyed the socializing that went along with those activities. In the early years he and Elaine managed to do some travelling to Vegas and Mexico, Craven Jamboree & the occasional Rider game. It always brought a smile to his face when reminiscing about his sporting or travel adventures. “Good times, lots of fun” he said. Ron was predeceased by his wife Elaine in 2013; his parents, Frank in 1990 and Stella in 2012; plus numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. A time of reflecting on a life well lived and luncheon for Ronald Gural will be held on Sunday February 2, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. from the Silver Park Community Hall.
