Obituary
ALVIN GEORGE JOHNSON WAS BORN ON THE FAMILY FARM. HE WAS THE MIDDLE CHILD TO ERNEST AND ALICE JOHNSON. DAD ATTENDED THE HAGGSTROM SCHOOL UNTIL GRADE 8. HE LOVED FARMING ALONG WITH GRANDPA JOHNSON AND UNCLE SONNY UNTIL HE SOLD HIS LAND IN 1998. AS WELL DAD WAS KNOWN AS THE CO-OP MAN. HE STARTED HIS CAREER WORKING FOR GRANDPA JOHNSON AT THE NORTH STAR OIL UNTIL HE MOVED OVER TO THE CO-OP IN 1960 AND WORKED UNTIL IS RETIREMENT IN 1990. WE HAD MANY YEARS OF FUN AND FAMILY TIME. WE SPENT MANY SUMMER HOLIDAYS IN FLIN FLON AT UNCLE WILMER AND AUNTIE YVONNE’S. DAD ENJOYED HUNTING AND FISHING WITH HIS BUDDIES. WE ALL REMEMBER WHEN MOM WAS AT WORK WE WOULD GO WITH DAD TO THE CO-OP IN THE EVENINGS SO HE COULD WORK ON HIS BOOKS, WHILE THERE ALL 3 OF US WOULD FILL THE CHIP RACK, THE POP MACHINE AND SWEEP THE FLOORS, IN RETURN WE WOULD GET A BAG OF CHIPS AND A POP. IN LATER YEARS DAD SUFFERED FROM BIPOLAR WHICH WAS VERY HARD ON US ALL BUT WE MADE IT THROUGH WITH GOD’S STRENGTH. HE OFTEN SAID HE NEVER SHOULD HAVE RETIRED OR SOLD THE FARM. HE LOVED TO TINKER AT THE FARM AND ENJOYED BUYING VEHICLES ESPECIALLY HIS 1972 VOLKSWAGON VAN AND HIS 1950 JOHN DEERE D TRACTOR. DAD WOULD GIVE THE SHIRT OF HIS BACK TO HELP ANYONE IN NEED. DAD SPENT THE LAST YEAR OF HIS LIFE AT THE KINISTINO JUBILEE LODGE WHERE HE REALLY GOT SPOILED, HE NEVER MISSED OUTINGS LIKE SHOPPING, BOWLING OR JUST A FUN DAY OUT.
