Obituary
Mom was born Sept 27, 1953 in the Melfort Hospital to Irene Linden. Irene and Raymond were married on Nov 30, 1956 and that’s when Raymond took Darlene as his own. On Sept 11, 1969 Darlene was adopted by Raymond and officially became a Habberfield. Mom spent a lot of her younger years with Auntie and Uncle Brink making Randy, Bev and Belinda more like siblings than cousins. Mom met Dad (Les Boen) in Aug of 1968 and were married in Jan, 1971, In May of 1971 they welcomed their first child Marlyn. 2 Years later they welcomed their first daughter Maureen in July of 1973. They lived in Melfort raising their kids, driving stock car and hanging out with all their family and friends. In 1983 they purchased Bridgeway Market and then welcomed their second daughter Michelle who was born on Mom’s birthday Sept 27, 1984. A few years later in 1990 Mom and Dad decided to go their own ways and Mom, Maureen and Michelle eventually moved to Prince Albert, where mom enrolled in a Commercial Cooking Course and her life had changed forever. During that Commercial Cooking course Mom met the love of her life Dean Boychuk. From that day forward Dean was Moms “ Rough to her Rider” During Mom and Deans 30 years together they enjoyed watching Roughrider games, Curling and spending time with their kids and grandchildren. In 1992 Mom started her love of working at Tim Hortons where she stayed for 26 Years! Everyone knew and loved Dar and her beautiful personality. In October of 2019, Maureen was curious to try Ancestry and to our delight we found Mom’s 7 sisters and 1 Brother * Debbie Jepson, Dianne Marcotte, Denise McCune, Doug Davidson, Donna Davidson, Sherry Davidson, Dawn Armsby and Deanne Malcho. Mom was set to retire in October of 2018 but was diagnosed with Cancer in Aug of 2018. She fought a brave and long battle when unfortunately she lost her fight and went to sleep peacefully with her family by her side at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert on May 1, 2022 Memorial contributions in memory of Darlene may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
