Christina was born on November 5, 1944 to Adam & Mabel Dahmer of St. Brieux, Sk. She was raised on a farm a couple miles from town on the west shore of St. Brieux Lake, and was the oldest of 10 children. She lived there until their house was destroyed by fire, and then they moved into town. She attended School in St. Brieux, where she received her grade 10. She then worked at Tetrault’s Store before working at Firestone Tire in Melfort as a gas attendant. It was there that she was noticed by a particular young man that worked across the street, and he had the need to fuel up his car quite frequently for some reason. His name was Richard (Dick) Taylor, and it turned out that she had been watching him and cheering against him when he played goal against her home St. Brieux hockey team. A romance ensued, and after dating for a few years they were married on July 23, 1966. To this young couple, four children came along starting with Gail, then Kelly, Sherri, and finally Todd. Their family has now grown to 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mom and dad moved to the farm in 1967, and she lived in the same yard until she passed away, ten years after losing dad to cancer. Chris was a stay-at-home mom while the kids were at home, and she took that job very seriously. She spoiled every one of her kids with her incredible gift of cooking, baking, canning, and tending to many cuts, scrapes, bruises, and broken bones that active farm kids somehow acquire. She also washed and dried about 1/2 million loads of laundry, and ironed every single item of clothing right down to socks and underwear. She loved to entertain people, and was well known for her hospitality. She had a huge heart, and took in anyone that would otherwise be alone for any family function or holiday. She loved her family, and thoroughly enjoyed family get togethers. She would rather have enough food to feed 15 extra people than be one potato short. This was a trait handed down to her by her mother Mabel. She also followed in her mother’s footsteps in her love of growing a garden that would feed a small army. To help dad pay the bills, she would deliver farm fresh cream and eggs to several houses every Thursday. She also loved the outdoors, and went on many camping and fishing trips with her family. She also loved cutting her grass on her riding lawnmower right up until this past year, even though it bucked her off while cutting the ditch causing her to crack a couple vertebrae. Mom also loved Jesus Christ, and gave her life to Him and accepted Him as Her Lord and Savior early on in her married life, on July 13, 1968. She was baptized and joined the assembly of believers at the Taylorside Gospel Hall shortly thereafter, where she faithfully attended until her passing. She lived out her faith by being a Godly example and showing the love of Jesus to her family and the world around her in everything she did. In the years following dad’s death, she was blessed to find a very special friend in Jean Olson, also known to us as “Grandma Jean”. They helped each other through the loneliness over countless games of Uno, Skipbo, and Tile Rummy. They became each other’s lifelines, and for that we are so grateful that God gave mom a “bestie” when she needed it the most. Even though she had to be very self-sufficient for the last 10 years since dad has been gone, she has missed him terribly and looked forward to the day they would be reunited in Heaven. She finally got her wish on March 23rd, 2022, when she peacefully passed away surrounded by her family in The Regina General Hospital. A tear rolled down her cheek almost the same second that her heart took its last beat, and we believe that was the moment when she saw dad standing beside Jesus, welcoming her to her new Heavenly home. She was pre-deceased by her husband Dick, parents Adam and Mabel Dahmer, brothers Larry and Keith, and her brothers-in-law Lynn Farrell and Eric Taylor. Her legacy lives on in her daughter Gail (Rob), and their children Scott, Mahlon (Chelsey), Amanda (Steve), and Angela (Marshall), son Kelly (Angie) and their children Zakk (Karissa), Faith (Thales), Hajner & Noelle, daughter Sherri, and son Todd and his children Lucas and Landon and their mother Kyla. She was also privileged to have great- grandchildren Summer (Darian), Acacia, Zane, Tyrone, Cash, Christian, and Jax, as well as great-great grandchildren Elijah and Lucas and best friend “Grandma Jean” Olson.
