Obituary of Derek Harold Mitchell

It is with overwhelming sadness that we tell you about Derek’s sudden and unexpected passing at age 68. He is deeply mourned by his wife of 46 years, Sharon, sons Devon and Shawn, and sisters Judith (John) and Sheila (Rae). He was predeceased by his father, Leonard, his mother, Betty, and his brother, Craig. After completing an Advanced Bachelor of Science degree in Land Use and Environmental Studies, he spent years working in Calgary as an environmental and appraisal consultant. In the early 80s, he and Sharon returned to Kinistino to farm with his parents, Leonard, and Betty. The family is deeply grateful for the generous efforts of friends and neighbours on the afternoon of November 4th. The practical help, the stories, laughter, food, and fellowship meant a lot. Derek would have been so appreciative of the help you gave his family. Thank you most sincerely.
