Obituary of James Cyril Owens

James Cyril Owens was born in North Surrey, B.C. on December 1, 1928 to parents Campbell and Edythe (Perry) Owens, the oldest of seven boys.
He married Norma Pierson at the age of 20 in Kinistino, SK, November 19, 1949. They farmed south of Kinistino in the RM of Flett’s Springs until the early 70’s. It was there that they raised their two children, Laurie and Todd.
Jim passed away peacefully at Parkland Place, Melfort,SK on November 13, 2023. Jim leaves to mourn his loss, daughter Laurie (Ken) Hookway, son Todd (Stephanie) Owens, grandchildren: Carrie (Michael) Yurchuk, Erica and Niklas, Matt Audette, Stacy (Narender) Singh, Anika and Jai, Amy (Nick) Maksymyk, Lauren and Evan, Dustin (Claire) Owens, Lilah and Holden, Chelsea Owens and Sydney (Keith) Adcock.
Also mourning his loss are his brother Stan (Claudette) Owens, sisters in laws, Patricia Owens, Lynn Owens and Dianne Owens, brothers in laws Jack (Duchee) Pierson, Bob Eaton and Felix Royer.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Norma, his parents Campbell and Edythe Owens, parents in law, Herman and Hazel Pierson, infant granddaughter Christie Audette, brothers, Bill (Ruth), Les, Ted, Dale and Rusty Owens, sisters in laws, Linda Eaton and Beverly Royer, brother in law Ken (Mabel) Pierson.
We will miss his sense of humour, his many jokes, and his ever existence. He was so proud of his family and his ability to be involved in the community of Melfort.
