Obituary
Please share a memory of Vernon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Arnold was born November 28, 1924 to J.W. (Bill) Shore and Mary “Olive” (Martin) Shore on the family homestead 5 miles south of Brancepeth, Sask.
At a very young age he became a farmer, first helping his Dad on the family farm then his uncle George Shore and finally on his own. Tending livestock, driving teams of horses, hauling hay, ice and wood, working on thrashing crews, clearing land, plowing, seeding, harvesting and hauling grain by horse and wagon. He had seen many changes from then to modern day farming!
In 1947 he met the love of his life, Betty Marie Larson. They were married on January 20, 1949. They first lived in Weldon, SK and then on a farm in the RM of Invergordon until they moved to their home quarter in 1952. He and Betty made their life there raising 4 children. They had a mixed farm growing cereal grains and canola and raising hogs for many years. They remained here together until Betty’s passing in December 2016. Arnold stayed on the farm on his own until July of this year.
Arnold was very proud to receive the Century Family Farm Award in 2008 and continued to farm for another 16 years after this. He was still on the swather last fall at 98 years old.
He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and telling numerous stories from days gone by. He worked very hard all of his life. He loved being a farmer. Both farming and Betty were his passions to the end.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
