Obituary
Anthony Louis Csapo was delivered by Mrs. Toth on his family farm 6 ¼ miles southwest of St. Brieux (September 12, 1933). Anthony completed much of his schooling at St. Brieux School, but left during Grade 11 in 1951 to pursue farming, mining and other occupations. In 1953, he began working in Bissett, MB at a goldmine, he fondly remembered these times even though they were often dangerous. Later, he worked on the C.N.R. Railroad with his brother John, but swiftly returned to mining gold as well as copper-zinc and diamond drilling in 1954. During the summer of 1959, a lovely maiden appeared on the beach aptly named Tony’s Beach. Anthony married her on April 16, 1960. Anthony also worked as a tour guide, bush pilot, police diver and part owner of a hair dressing shop while also working as a miner. He was also able to get his TV and radio repair ticket. Soon after their first child Linda was born, followed by Charles, Laura and Sheila. In 1965, after spending a few years with his parents they settled on their own farm and set up a small house and barn. Anthony raised a great variety of crops and animals such as wheat, canola, barley, oats, hay, cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys, geese and ducks. After his father passed in 1973, they began building a new house from 1974-75. Anthony also served as a R.M. Councillor from Jan. 1, 1984 until Dec. 31, 1989 in Division Six of the R.M. of Lake Lenore #399. He retired to Melfort from farming in 1992 and sold the farm in the spring of 1993. His mother passed away on Dec. 18th, 1996 after a long life of 83 years. Anthony enjoyed his retirement and filled it with wine making, berry picking, visits with friends and trips to visit relatives in Hungary, BC, Manitoba and Alberta. He even moved with Pamela to Duncan BC temporarily to be closer to his daughter Linda and Perry and their two children. Anthony enjoyed swimming in his retirement, as he had been a Northern diver in his younger years and had even flown bush planes! He maintained a vegetable garden and travelled until his last days. Anthony passed away in Brandon, Manitoba, while visiting friends and family on May 25, 2017 at 2:45pm. Survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy Pamela (nee Glover), who together celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary (April 16, 2017) with their children Linda (Perry), Charles, Laura (Paul) and Sheila (Peter): and four grandchildren Melissa, Edward, Adam and Pamela. Anthony is also survived by his siblings John (Liz), Alberta (Esther), Margaret, and Mary (Antonio) and their children Lisa (Pete), Dean, Vince (Celeste) and Tony, and many cousins and great nieces Tina and Sierra and great great nephew Braden. Anthony was predeceased by his parents Mary (nee Sabo) and Louis Csapo Memorial contributions in memory of Anthony may be directed to the Heart and Stroke Fund and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
